Stomach Virus Sucks

Apparently there's some sort of stomach virus going around day care...and, of course, Suki caught it. On Monday she threw up twice and started having some rather explosive diarrhea... That streched through yesterday and seems to finally be easing up. I took a sick day to keep her home so we could watch her and make sure she doesn't dehydrate. No wilted baby on our watch. No sireee.

Last night was probably the worst, she was screaming for about two hours. Just long enough for us to start planning to take her to the Children's Urgent Care, but as soon as I got off the phone with the nurse from the pediatrician's office, she quieted down. She ate normally, so we put her to bed and figured if she was restless or cranky, we'd take her in. Thankfully, she slept through the night without any problems and awoke this morning as our usual, happy baby. Of course, she did greet us with a giant (regular!) poop, so she's definitely on the mend!

Taking advantage of the daylight and the (relatively) happy baby, I decided to snap a few more pictures. Once I get them transferred off the camera, I'll add a couple to this blog...She so photogenic, its hard for me to resist the temptation to keep snapping away!

Suki's Blog

Yes, it really did happen! (At 11:51pm on November 22nd, to be precise)We can't believe it either....

The first we knew of even the possibility of the adoption was when we talked to a friend of the family on Sunday night (July 15, 2007). Through her efforts, we met the birth mother on Wednesday night (July 18, 2007) and spent almost three hours over dinner talking. With those small steps, our adoption adventure began!

Over the next few months, we spend countless hours with social workers and attorneys, in classes and varying states of anxiety. All of which we chose to chronicle here. All told it was truly an experience that we won't soon forget. Nor was it one we wouldn't do again in an instant.

Sawyer Kay, a name drawn from sources in both Debra's and Shawn's families, was born at 11:51pm on Thursday, November 22nd (yes, that's Thanksgiving Day!) and weighted in at 8 pounds, 1 ounce and was 20.5 inches long.

Only a few days old, her given name was quickly bypassed and we began calling her by her nickname, Suki. And so the story begins....
