It's Official! Say Hi to Sawyer Kay Monk!

Yes, its Family Day 2008! We've decided to make Sawyer's adoption day a recurring family holiday, but since we're not very creative, we've only be able to settle on the name Family Day to describe it. Since today was the day of Sawyer's final hearing, y'know, the one where she actually became a Monk, we invivted all of our friends and family to help us celebrate!

The hearing part is now over, so instead of keeping y'all in suspense, we figured we'd post some pictures of the event right away! (Patience is not a great virtue of ours...but we're working on it!)

Sawyer in My Dress....

See, way back when I was born and where I was born, new-fangled thing-a-ma-jigs like ultrasound were only for the rich and famous. My parents were neither, so they guessed. The guessed I was going to be a girl.

Needless to say, they guessed wrong.

But not before they'd bought some awfully cute dresses for me to wear. Fortunately (unfortunately?) there are no pictures of me actually wearing the dress, but as the good packrat my mother is, she saved the dress for all these years and brought it out for Sawyer to wear.

It's Video Time!

Yes, I know you've eagerly been awaiting Sawyer's next appearance on video, I can read minds, y'know. I've been going through some of the videos that Debra shot while I was travelling for the last two weeks, so while it's not today's video, it's still pretty damn cute. I think you'll agree....

Training for Big Time Show Off for Papa!

Suki has outdone herself this week. She has a big show planned for her Papa when he returns. Not only did she start rolling over this week, but this morning Rachel, Keri, Toni and I spotted a TOOTH!!! That's right a TOOTH! Right smack in the center lower gum.

...Deb thinks... ahhhh... this might be why she has been screaming for an hour every night!

List of the weeks accomplishments...
1. TOOTH
2. Rolling over from front to back
3. Very talky this week... making more vowel sounds
4. Woke up with wet socks... clearly a sign that the feet have been in the mouth.
5. About 5 seconds from sitting up on her own... doing crunches when laying on her back in training for the big event.
6. Ate Bananas... Apples, Greenbeans and Sweet Potatos were getting old. : )

For some reason... I am having a hard time retrieving this weeks pictures off the camera so too bad for ya'll! I'll try more later.

Okay, I was wrong.

Apparently, Suki isn't on the mend as I thought yesterday. We'd sent her to day care thinking she was finally over the hump, but apparently, we're not quite there yet. Suki had a rough day at day care and spent most of her time there screaming....(I've been there, and it's not pretty...) Also, she hardly ate.

As any good, worried parent would do, we took her to the Children's Urgent Care. Suki is now going to be on Isomil DF (for diarrhea) or Pedialyte for the next 1/2 day. The goal is to give her stomach a chance to settle down and clog her up a bit. (I suggested a cork, but the doctor didn't laugh...)

So it looks like she's going to be home again tomorrow....Debra's probably going to have to spend the first half of the day at home so I can try to get some work done prepping for my upcoming trip to Florida and Alaska. Then, I'll send her back to work in the afternoon and take over caring for the little Suki-meister. We'll keep you posted on what's coming out...(or not, if you prefer)
